Here And Now Improv Drop-In

This Meetup is for improvisers of all levels. Beginners are welcome!
The Emotional Dynamic we have with our scene partner is the most important. We don't have to be funny or clever. We don't have to follow the so called "rules" of improv, such as "Yes, and" and establishing the Who, What, and Where at the beginning of the scene. We will explore doing scenes mindfully and with intention, exploring concepts such as Point Of View, Beats of the Scene, Viewpoints that will make scenes that are grounded, focused, and emphasize the emotional dynamic that we have with our scene partners.
We will begin with exercises to get us out of our heads and into the present moment. We will then do exercises and scenes for two or more persons. We will frequently conclude with group scenes or even a short-form game.

Stand-Up Comedy 401: Creative Comedy Lab — Drop-In Session

Looking to shake up your stand-up, explore your comedic persona, or discover something unexpected in your material? Drop into Stand-Up Comedy 401 for an evening of creative experimentation!
Each session is a playful, hands-on comedy laboratory where you'll explore new ways to perform your jokes, experiment with your stage presence, and discover what makes your comedic voice uniquely yours.
Each 401 drop-in session will have stand-alone, creative ‘lab-like’ exercises to apply to your existing material — weekly content does not rely on content from previous week.
Be ready for fresh exercises, unexpected challenges, and imaginative approaches that encourage you to step outside your usual habits and try something new.
What to Expect
• Creative experiments: Explore playful exercises and performance challenges designed to stretch your comedic instincts.
• Persona exploration: Try different approaches to delivery, character, physicality, and stage presence.
• Work with your material: Bring jokes, ideas, or material you're developing and discover new ways to bring them to life.
• A supportive creative environment: Experiment alongside other comedians, take creative risks, and learn through exploration.
• Something different each week: Every session offers its own set of discoveries, making it worthwhile to attend once or return for multiple sessions.
Can I Really Drop In for Just One Session?
Absolutely! While 401 is also offered as a six-week course, its creative, exploratory format makes individual sessions accessible without attending previous weeks.
Each class is designed around exercises that allow participants to work on their own material and artistic development. You can jump in, participate fully, and leave with new ideas to explore in your comedy.
Who Can Attend?
Anyone who has completed Stand-Up Comedy 101 or equivalent foundational training approved by the instructor. You do not need to have completed 201 or 301.

Whether you're hosting an improv show, a live event, or looking to strengthen your public-speaking skills, this workshop will help you build the confidence and tools to be an engaging and effective host.
Through practical exercises and hands-on experience, participants will explore how to:
Command the room and connect with an audience
Keep the energy flowing while making the performers shine
Support the venue, production team, and technical crew
Communicate effectively with performers and producers
Understand the do's and don'ts of hosting
Explore how to write and deliver quick, topical jokes inspired by current events
The goal: Learn to be a confident, entertaining, and supportive host who keeps the audience engaged while making the event—and its performers—the stars of the show. And become qualified to host shows at Flipside Theatre!
All experience levels welcome. Great for improvisers, aspiring emcees, public speakers, and anyone looking to sharpen their onstage presence.
