Here And Now Improv Drop-In

This Meetup is for improvisers of all levels. Beginners are welcome!
The Emotional Dynamic we have with our scene partner is the most important. We don't have to be funny or clever. We don't have to follow the so called "rules" of improv, such as "Yes, and" and establishing the Who, What, and Where at the beginning of the scene. We will explore doing scenes mindfully and with intention, exploring concepts such as Point Of View, Beats of the Scene, Viewpoints that will make scenes that are grounded, focused, and emphasize the emotional dynamic that we have with our scene partners.
We will begin with exercises to get us out of our heads and into the present moment. We will then do exercises and scenes for two or more persons. We will frequently conclude with group scenes or even a short-form game.

New to improv? Welcome. Been away for a while? Welcome back. This Improv 101 Drop-In is designed for anyone who wants to jump in, loosen up, and practice the building blocks of great improv. Expect playful exercises, supportive coaching, and a room full of people figuring it out together. No experience needed—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to say "yes" to something unexpected.

No singing experience? No problem! This fun, low-pressure workshop uses easy, team-driven exercises to help you create simple melodies and catchy lyrics on the spot. Musical improv is one of the fastest ways to add emotion and depth to your characters and scenes—and you’ll be amazed at how quickly it clicks. Come ready to laugh, learn, and leave humming your own hilarious creations.

Got a half-baked sketch idea? A weird scene you've been dying to test? Bring it to Piffle Playground at Flipside Theatre!
Drop-in and bring notebooks, laptops, and your wildest ideas. Come for the chaos. Stay for the creativity.
Feel free to bring your lunch. Drinks, popcorn and candy are available for sale at concessions.
This event takes place on the first Sunday of every month. Sketch ideas generated as part of the sketch program may be performed at Flipside Theatre
